Learning Objective & Instructions
Learning Objective: Students will develop a deep understanding of child development and how to interact with children in a way that is appropriate and supportive.
Instructions:
Research and demonstrate knowledge of the different stages of child development, including physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. This includes understanding the typical milestones and behaviors associated with each stage, as well as any challenges or risks that may arise.
Show an understanding of how to interact with children at each stage of development by:
Recognizing and responding to their needs.
Communicating effectively and appropriately.
Providing guidance and support that is developmentally appropriate.
Use developmentally appropriate strategies for each stage of development. This could include:
Play-based learning for young children.
Encouraging independence for older children.
Adapting strategies to meet the needs of individual children.
Reflect on personal experiences with children and how they responded in different situations. Consider how your own biases and assumptions may impact your interactions with children.
Submission Requirements:
Submit a written presentation, slideshow, video, etc… that includes the following:
A summary of the different stages of child development and their associated milestones and behaviors.
A description of how to appropriately interact with children at each stage of development.
Examples of developmentally appropriate strategies for each stage of development.
A reflection on personal experiences with children and how you responded in different situations, including any biases or assumptions that may have influenced your interactions.
