I’ve spent the past 11 years working in education in teaching, coordination, and administrative roles, including six years as an English Learner Coordinator. Before entering education, I worked for several years in banking and finance, and for the past four years I’ve also worked as a counselor in private practice. My own career path has taken several turns, so I understand that it sometimes takes support, exploration, and encouragement to figure out what you want to do in life. My wife probably wishes I had had a career counselor involved in my life because of the things I’ve considered before settling into education and counselor-esque work. My initial idea to final ideas went something like this: dentist, financial planner, banker, Spanish court interpreter, Spanish teacher, ESL coordinator, principal, counselor. I enjoy helping people recognize their strengths, work through challenges, and discover options that fit their goals and interests.
I grew up in San Diego and was able to visit again this summer. I spent most of my time with family, went to a Padres game, played pickleball, went swimming, and spent time at the beach, realizing I’m past the age where I can surf. In my free time, I enjoy family game nights, reading, college sports, floating the river, cruises, and Mexican and Italian food.
I’ve enjoyed online learning for a long time, and I’m excited to support staff and students as we work together to help kids explore careers, overcome barriers, and move toward futures that are meaningful to them. I’m excited to meet all of you!
