Learning Objective: Sewing is a useful skill that can be used to create clothing and other items. Students will demonstrate the ability to sew clothing using a sewing machine or by hand and using a pattern to create a garment.
Instructions:
Demonstrate the ability to sew clothing using a sewing machine or by hand. This includes knowing how to:
Cut and measure fabric.
Sew seams and hems.
Add fasteners such as buttons or zippers.
Select appropriate fabrics for different types of clothing.
Use a pattern to sew clothing. This includes understanding how to:
Read and interpret pattern instructions.
Cut fabric according to the pattern pieces.
Assemble the garment using the instructions provided.
Submit a photograph of the completed garment, along with a reflection on the sewing process. This reflection should include:
Any challenges encountered during the sewing process and how they were overcome.
Any changes made to the pattern or garment during the sewing process.
Any skills or techniques learned during the sewing process.
Submission Requirements:
Submit a photograph of the completed garment.
Submit a reflection (written presentation, slideshow, infographic, etc…) on the sewing process, including any challenges, changes made, and skills or techniques learned.
